Amy Thering is an execution-driven technology leader who draws upon 20+ years of experience building large-scale, complex systems. As chief information officer, Amy oversees the implementation and support of all technology for Optum® Frontier Therapies.
She earned a bachelor’s degree from University of Wisconsin-Madison with a double major in piano performance and psychology. After graduating, she realized her interest in computers and earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Northeastern Illinois University.
Amy has programming and leadership experience from Walgreens, Catamaran and Optum, where she supported specialty, prior authorizations, digital and mobile, and more. She is passionate about building strong teams to create extraordinary solutions that improve patient lives.
Amy is a highly engaged advocate for diversity in IT. She is the Illinois lead for United Women Leading in Technology, an Optum Women in Technology Initiative Lead, a member of ChickTech Chicago, and a Disability:IN mentor.
Amy has her black belt in kung fu and is an inventor on three patents.
