Rare Disease Day 2022
Date posted: February 23, 2022
Rare Disease Day is on February 28, 2022. Did you know that there are over 7,000 rare diseases that impact over 300 million people worldwide? More than 90% of them are WITHOUT an FDA-approved treatment1.
As a pharmacy focused on rare diseases, we see lives impacted daily, so we want to do our part to shine a light on the people and families living with a rare disease. It is our mission to create access to therapies at the frontier of health care and to help all people, no matter how unique, access a better tomorrow.
The National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD), is the official US partner for Rare Disease Day. We are participating in their events by lighting up our pharmacies and sharing selfies in rare disease colors or stripes. Zebras are the official mascot of rare disease.
“The zebra is the official symbol of rare diseases in the United States and is noted for its black and white stripes, which are central to its uniqueness. Everyone has his/her own stripes.”
